"The Voice of Others" was presented at TanzQuartier in Vienna during the S_P_I_T_Queer Festival. Ianês, in a state of stillness, awaited the audience's entry into the room. As the audience took their seats, Ianês approached each person individually, engaging in a brief yet intimate dialogue. They asked them to share the word that came to mind. With that word in mind, Ianês then painted it on cotton paper using their tongue and vibrant red acrylic paint. The taste of the paint and the use of their tongue in the artistic process took a toll on Ianês, causing them to feel nauseous repeatedly and their tongue to bleed. For over a decade, Ianês has been engaging with the public through dialogue to create word paintings with his tongue. Once painted on paper, the group of words becomes an independent artwork, a testament to the moment of intimacy shared between Ianês and the participants.
