For "Distant", Ianês built a large wooden box, big enough for them to move comfortably inside, where they remained isolated from the public at all times. Inside the cabin, there was a chair and a pencil, and they were dressed in regular clothes. Outside, paper, pencils, and envelopes were available for the public, who could write and deliver letters to the artist through a small gap at the front wall of the cabin. The public was instructed to propose actions for Ianês to perform inside the cabin, which they could not see, and they agreed to carry out all feasible requests. The action lasted just under three hours, as one of the requests was for Ianês to destroy the cabin by punching it from the inside, which indeed happened. All actions performed inside the wooden box were recorded on film and shown to the public the following day, along with the letters the artist received.
