Poster for the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising Commemoration, 2020.
In "Centelha", the past is awakening the present. In commemoration of the 77th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, ghostly figures sing the first verses of the partisan anthem, a song that accompanied the struggle of Jewish men and women against Nazi forces in April 1943. The choir, out of tune and imperfectly layered, produces an ambiguous sensation of presence and absence, or of a mismatched encounter - reminiscent of the strangeness of virtual life in times of quarantine. According to the artist, "the sound of an uprising echoes from the past to the present, animating it like a fragile spark capable of creating a bonfire; the sound of an uprising whose harmony and beauty lie in its mistakes and vulnerabilities; an uprising that is never in tune; a deep cut in the course of history, allowing us to still hear it as the most beautiful music."
